Introducing Omaha Checker
If you are just starting to play Omaha online or have been playing Omaha and want to improve your game, you should check out
Omaha Checker.
Omaha Checker is a new, free program designed to help you learn while playing. You can study how your Omaha hand holds up pre-flop against one or two opponents' ranges.
To get started with Omaha Checker, you will first need to download the software and then double-check that your
PokerStars settings are set up with the default card deck. This is important since the software might only recognize live hands with this card deck.
There is no need for a lengthy manual to understand and use this equity tool. All you need to do is have PokerStars and Omaha Checker running, sit at a PokerStars Omaha table, and simply attach the software to your table by dragging the bulls-eye over your cards.
Within a second, you should see calculations at your disposal that would be difficult to generate on your own in a timely enough fashion. Your hand's pre-flop equity is displayed against many possible opponent holdings, including preset ranges for AAxx, AAxx, or KKxx; 25% of all hands; 20% of all hands; 15% of all hands; and 10% of all hands.
If you believe your opponent's range may be different than any of these preset ranges, there is also a slider, which provides your equity regardless of the percent of hands you feel your opponent could be holding.
If this sounds like information you want, but are unsure if it is permitted, rest assured that Omaha Checker is allowed on PokerStars. Even though you are being provided a huge advantage by having hand equity information over your opponents, the software isn't doing anything you wouldn't be able to calculate yourself if you had the time. The software isn't telling you how to play your hand based off this information; it is up to you to use this information to understand what decisions you need to make.
If you don't play on PokerStars, we have been told that this software may work on other sites. Even if it doesn't, you can use Omaha Checker outside of PokerStars or any other poker client by manually plugging in scenarios.
For example, if you were curious how your 9-8-7-6 double-suited looks compared to an opponent's range of AAxx, you can quickly plug this into Omaha Checker and learn you have 44.5% equity in the hand. This may be enough to call a 3bet to see a flop if stacks are deep or go all-in pre-flop if stacks are shallow.
Why not see if your win rate will improve by using Omaha Checker? The software is absolutely free, so you have nothing to lose to see what it can do for you.

How come your equities are significantly different from those given by propokertools?
